New Seasons, New Routines

It’s finally feeling like summer here in D.C. It was a long winter. At least it felt like it for me. It was also our first winter in four years after living in Colombia and it hit me like a ton of bricks.

While we didn’t have winter in Colombia, we also didn’t have seasons and I forgot how transformational they can be in terms of marking the passage of time, transitions and changes. I’ve been feeling a little off my game, absentminded and without solid footing. I’m starting to think it might be the strong seasonal change and it’s time for me to get centered and into a new routine that reflect and embraces this time.

Oscar is helping with that. We are back to long evening walks to soak in the summer breeze and energy of the city. We also discovered a place in the neighborhood where he can get doggie ice cream cones. This may become a weekly affair.
